・when you get the driver's license, you'll get at police station.
・we can choose to go to licence center in yokohama or to go to police station in close to my apartment.
・in canada, we must go to the place, called 'registry' in order to get driver's licence. we can't go to police station. so i'm very surprised.
・are you excieted about the business trip?->i'm excited now.
・this is much comfortable
・i probably think my english ability improve at least a little.
・maybe i'll be able to catch native english at least than last year.
・at next time, please tell me about your experience.
◆Americaでのフォローアップ会議について
・before the conference, i'm gonna visit to the oversea branch where i'm going to work in the near future.
・as i talked in the previous lesson, i gave a presentation for oversea stuffs in big theater.
・so i'm going to attend the follow-up meeting at oversea branch.
・we're going to discuss various topics which is related to the january's presentations.
・through the meeting, we're also going to exchange various opinions.
・for example, "how should we exchange information from now on?"
・each branch has a lot of valuable information each other.
・i hope that the meeting will be helpful opportunity for us.
・i'm going to live in San Jose.
・so i hope that my new apartment will be close to my company.
◆自動車の運転
・please be careful when you drive cars in U.S. cuz in U.S, there are 5 lanes on high-way.
・if you want to exit on the side, you must cut through 4 laens. so be careful about that.
・to be honest, in canada, i have only driven maximum 3 lanes. for me.
・i've never driven cars in U.S.
・the half of members will use a tour-bus.
・actually, the member is divided into 2 groups. i blong to GropuA. cuz, as i mentioned, i'll have to attend an important meeting before the conference.
・i'll check/observe the condition of road or traffic-jam(traffic congestion).
◆GDC2009のスケジュール
・i organzied my schedule for the conference.
・i'm really into the workflow for development videogame.
・i'm going to choose the appropriate for my current situation carefully.
・the mission of my job is connect between programmer and artist smoothly.
・generally speaking, oversea videogame developer is more sophiscated than japanese.
・why do you think that western developer is more sophiscated?
・the one of the reason is the difference of mother tongue. generally, japanese aren't familiar with english.
・so, at this moment, there is already gap.
・the videogame for PC isn't popular among japanese people. therefore, even though we develop very interesting videogame for PC, we can't make profit very much.
・that means western videogame technology has surpassed japanese technology.
・yeah. unfortunately, japanese tech is inferior to western technology. so we japanese developer tend to feel heat.
・however, i believe that japanese developer has our own strong points, namely the videogame which only japanese can develop.
・japnaese people tend to be care about the detail. japanese developer likes to draw in detail without thinking of the priority.
・but the workflow in current generation is very complex. so i personally think we should think about the efficiency of development at first.
・i don't think that the workflow of overseas companies doesn't fit to my company directly.
・but i believe that there are a lot of hints in the sessions.
・ideally, i would like to improve our good points and overcome bad points by learning useful informations.
◆会議中の英語について
・the english during meeting is difficult for me to catch.
・i think it's good opportunity for me to enhance my english. if i have any chance, i'll express an opinion during the meeting in english.
・and also i'm going to attend the round-table in the conference. i hope i'll be able to make an opinion at least once.
・even in japan, it's difficult for me to make mention in the big meeting.
・tolerant means that american people usually accept your ideas and opinions. they want to listen your idea and opinion.
・if you come up with nice idea, please don't hesitate to make an opinion.
・out of 10 people, only you'll be transfered.
・actually, the members of 1st group are high-grade person except me.
・i think i'll suffer from american meeting style.
・ryutaro, 'suffer' means 'you're having a lot of negative experiences'. so you would be better off using 'you're facing many challenges'.
・but the challenge you're going to experience isn't supposed to be netative.
・but in this case, like i said, suffer is usually very serious.
・after leaving japan, i'll face many challenges.
◆健康
・for that purpose, i'll have to care about my health. cuz unless my phisical condision is serious, i won't be able to be positive.
・if your phisical fitness will be difficult for you to face the challenge in U.S, what kind of things can you do to keep yourself phisical fitness?
・basically, i'm gonna rebuild new life style to adjust myself in U.S.
・for example, i'm going to find an good sporty-gym in close to my apartment ASAP.
・in addition, i'll have to look for good pharmacy and hospital for my health.
・that's a good idea.i have a question. in japan, when you have a cold, do you go to the hospital or the pharmacy?
・''what do you mean by ''serious?
・give me example?
・when my body heat is terribly high, my physical condition is too severe.
・cuz in north america, if you have a cold, you usually go to clinic instead of hospital.
・do you have family doctor in Japan? family doctor is a doctor which you always go to, like a general doctor.
・family doctor works in clinic.
・clinic is usually run by 1 or 2 doctors. clinic is very limited in the type of the examination they can give. probably no x-ray, no MRT.
・hospital has many many different doctor, many many different divisions. for example,
・the word 'hospital' i mentined a little while ago means just 'clinic', sorry.
・generally speaking, the number of clinics is much more than hospital.
◆野球のけがについて
・the most terrible injury which i've ever taken was broken bone during baseball game.
・it was about 5 years ago. i belonged to baseball team of my company. i was an outfielder.
・unfortunatelly, i collided with another outfielder during the defensive.
・after the accident, i was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
・as my face was deformed by the accident, i had to take an operation for the reconstuction.
・additionally, my eyes were engorged with blood for a while.
・after the operation, my face swelled very much by the influence.
・there is no feeling of my right-upper teeth yet by the damage of the nerves.
・when i took X-ray of my face, you can see several metals around my teeth.
・in the future, when you go to U.S, if you have cold or headache, remember to go to clinic.
・on the other hand, like you said, if you broke cheek-bone, you must go to hospital.
・so please let me know about your business trip. please tell me about your chances of speaking english in meetings.
・i'll take the challenge.
・i'd like to confirm about the price for skype-lesson.
・so this is the sum of lesson fee which includes today's lesson.
・please have safe trip to the U.S. be careful of your wallet. cuz U.S is much more dangerous than Japan.
